Ferrarelle S.p.A. Benefit Corporation is a leading Italian company in the mineral water and beverage sector. The Group’s brand portfolio includes Ferrarelle and Vitasnella and others, that are bottled at its two production plants in Italy. It is also the exclusive distributor of Evian in the Italian market. In 2017, Ferrarelle expanded into the premium food segment through the acquisition of Amedei Toscana, a high-end chocolate producer.

THE ORIGIN

A unique taste that has spanned centuries

Before Ferrarelle and its long history, there was the water from the Riardo springs, spoken of since the time of the Roman Empire.

From Vitruvius to Pliny the Elder, who in his Naturalis Historia recounts legionaries who had to quarantine in camps around Teano before returning to the capital. This waiting period allowed them to purify body and mind by frequenting the baths and drinking the fresh local waters.

The Birth

1893: From the springs to the bottle

At the dawn of the 20th century, a significant decision by Giuseppe De Ponte led to the birth of Ferrarelle water.

In fact, it was enough to build a canalization system to start commercialization and share the unique pleasure of its natural effervescence with all Italians.

During Italy’s economic and industrial boom, Ferrarelle started appearing in luxury restaurants, it became recognized as a premium water and “the water for Italians,” reflecting evolving consumer habits and lifestyles.

Home sweet home

2005 was a fundamental year for Ferrarelle.

After a long time, the company’s ownership became 100% Italian again, a moment we decided to honor also through the colors of our bottle.
